Nathan Pallotto

Nathan Pallotto (b. 1998) is an American composer, conductor, and photographer based in the UK. Originally from Ohio, he began his musical career at age 10 on trombone but has since performed concerts on flute, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, tenor recorder, horn, euphonium, piano, viola, cello, and percussion. Currently Nathan is a member of the BBC Symphony Chorus. Over the years he has also been been a part of the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, The National Video Game Orchestra of Wales, EMTA Koor, REPCO Sinfonia, and the Crestwood Scartlet Guard. In addition to instrumental performance Nathan has also conducted multiple choral concerts with such pieces as Veljo Tormis’ Raua Needmine, Atli Heimir Sveinsson’s Haustmyndir, and Per Nørgård’s Wie ein Kind.

Nathan is a graduate of both the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Goldsmiths, University of London where he obtained a BMus(Hons) in Music Composition and an MA in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy, respectively. During his time at RWCMD he studied with Joseph Davies, Michael McCartney, Mark David Boden, and Lynne Plowman. Nathan has also studied at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (Eesti Muusika ja Teatriakadeemia) under Helena Tulve.

While at RWCMD and EMTA Nathan has had pieces performed in Saint David’s Hall, the Arvo Pärt Centre, and the Dora Stoutzker Hall. Beyond this, he has had his pieces played in Poland, Portugal, the USA, the Netherlands, and India. His recent awards include: 2nd place in The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York’s "Emerging Composers Competition" (2019), runner-up in the "4Viola" Composition Contest sponsored by the Dutch Viola society (2018), and winner of the 4th Composition Contest for Flutes of the "5º Academia de Flauta de Verão" (2017).

Currently, Nathan is working as the Promotions and Social Media Manager at the Grammy award-winning ensemble Theatre of Voices. In addition to this he has worked in freelance positions for Chamber Choir Ireland, London Handel Festival, and The Cleveland Orchestra.
